Located in downtown Fayetteville, 112 West Center sits within one of the city’s most active urban corridors. Surrounded by restaurants, offices, and public gathering spaces, the building contributes to the energy and walkability that define Fayetteville’s historic downtown district. Incorporating a green facade into the design introduced a vertical landscape element that complements the surrounding architecture while bringing natural texture into a dense urban setting.
The installation features a trellis-based green facade system designed to support climbing plants as they grow upward along the building’s exterior. Planted at the base of the structure, the vegetation gradually establishes itself along the vertical framework, forming a living screen that softens the building façade over time. As the plants mature, the system helps shade portions of the wall surface, reduce localized heat gain, and introduce seasonal variation to the building’s appearance.
Beyond its environmental benefits, the green facade enhances the experience of the rooftop terrace and surrounding outdoor spaces. The vertical planting system creates a more comfortable and inviting atmosphere while offering a subtle connection to nature within the downtown environment. By integrating vegetation into the building envelope, the project demonstrates how green infrastructure can enrich urban architecture while supporting sustainable design in Fayetteville’s city center.
