Uptown Apartments

Size: 310 square feet
Type: Modular Tray Green Roof

Located in the heart of Fayetteville, Uptown Apartments contributes to the city’s growing network of walkable, mixed-use residential developments. The project offers modern living spaces designed to connect residents with nearby trails, businesses, and community amenities. Integrating a green roof into the development adds an ecological component to the building while supporting Fayetteville’s broader commitment to sustainable urban growth.

The rooftop system utilizes a modular tray-based green roof designed for efficient installation and long-term durability. Pre-planted trays containing hardy sedum vegetation were carefully placed across the roof, creating a resilient planting system capable of thriving in rooftop conditions. The modular trays allow for proper drainage and root development while helping capture rainfall and reduce stormwater runoff. This vegetated layer also reduces rooftop heat gain and provides additional protection for the underlying roofing membrane.

Beyond its environmental performance, the green roof enhances the architectural character of the building. From surrounding vantage points, the rooftop landscape introduces a living element to the development while softening the built environment. Projects like Uptown Apartments demonstrate how multifamily housing can successfully integrate green infrastructure, creating spaces that benefit both residents and the broader Fayetteville community.
